[Galatians 6:2]

“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”
Money and Our Chaplaincy

As a chaplaincy we are committed to offering the Love of Christ in our region by worshipping God and by showing love to our neighbours. English speakers and members of Anglican churches find the worship and ministry offered by our churches and ministers to be particularly valuable, especially at times of difficulty when the church can feel like a comforting presence.

However, that's not all! The work we do reaches far more widely than our own community. Through the hard work and generosity of our members and others, we are able to support a great number of charities and local causes through our charitable arm MPAid (further details on MPAid below).

In order to continue in this vital ministry and service, we rely upon the regular financial giving of our members and from friends around the world. We also depend upon the regular commitment of members whose faith compels them to give their time to pray and work to ensure that the chaplaincy is offering the love and assurance of God to all who need it. Our money may build up the church, but it is our tears and our prayers which give it life.

Giving and Tax

If you are considering making either a one off or regular donation to support the work of our chaplaincy - Thank you! Little of the work we do would be possible without the commitment to significant, regular giving which many people make. Traditionally, giving to the church was done via the offering plate on a Sunday. Today, we can also give in electronic and tax-efficient ways.

Not all of us are in the 'fortunate' position of paying tax here or in the UK! For those who are, however, it is worth emphasising that:

  • If you are a tax payer in France, if you give 100€ to the Church, it will only cost you 33€

  • If you pay UK taxes, there is also Gift Aid whereby the Chancellor also contributes a proportion of the tax paid on your earnings to increase the value of your gift.

If you are unsure about committing yourself to a virement or standing order, then you can give by cheque, and still obtain the tax benefits, providing of course you are resident here for tax purposes, and pay tax each year. We keep track of all organised giving, and send you a receipt at the end of each year to submit with your tax return.

The appropriate French and UK forms are available for download below.

Thank you for your kind support.

MPA-Aid

The Charity arm of the Chaplaincy is known as MPA-Aid.

It is an "Association Caritative" formed in 2010. It is a non-profit making organisation and the objectives are to collect and distribute funds to Charities and individuals in France and abroad. MPAid enables us to express our Christian faith in practical terms to people who are in need throughout the world.

For the last seven years, we have given some €63000 to charities, and for 2016 we gave €12800.

Chaplaincy congregations each nominate charities, which are then supported for a period of three years. Whenever there is a fund raising event at one of the worship centres MPAid donates 50% of any money raised to a nominated charity of their choice.

Two charities, namely Restos du Cœur and Secours Catholique are often supported by items of produce etc. throughout the year.

We also support a number of other local and international charities as well as providing practical and financial gifts for the relief of hardship for families and individuals in our region.
