Worship at Home During Coronavirus

We recently took the difficult decision to cancel our worship services for this Sunday, 15th March, and to suspend all services and events for an indefinite period. This was to fulfil our part in caring for our members and and to protect the health of every member of our community.

Since then, the French authorities have instructed the closure of cafes, restaurants and many businesses and spaces which typify the convivial character of life in France. As a result, many people, including members of our chaplaincy will experience isolation in a way which is difficult to bear.

As Christians it is essential that we bear with one another in faith and fellowship, and care for those around us as Jesus commanded us to do. In cases where it may be impossible to visit face to face with someone, we may still be able to keep in touch with them using the telephone, or even video calling (if you’re into that sort of thing!). Our own Chaplaincy Council will meet this coming Monday via a video conference. I will let you know how that turns out.

In the meantime, for as long as our worship gatherings are disrupted, we have begun to provide resources to help our people pray and worship at home. As the situation is anticipated to continue for some time, additional prayers, bible readings and hymns will be added for Sundays and other days.

Be well, with love and every blessing,
